Who is eligible to attend EMA programs?
EMA scheduled programs are aimed at building emergency management capacity/capability in Australian States and Territories. When programs are not fully subscribed by States and Territories, applications from Australian Government employees with a role in emergency management, may be considered.
How can I nominate to do a program at EMA Institute?
People interested in attending programs at EMA Institute at Mount Macedon need to complete a nomination form and send it to their State or Territory nominating authority. The authority will forward the form to EMA. Commonwealth employees need to send the nomination form to their State or Territory Nominating Authority in the first instance.
Nominees will be advised of the acceptance of their nomination one month prior to the commencement of the activity and the joining instructions and any precourse reading/assignments will be sent at this time.
Nomination Forms
Note: Western Australians applicants must contact FESA Emergency Management Services for a nomination form.
Note: Victorian applicants must contact the Nomination Officer, OESC Committee for a nomination form (see contact details below).

Who are the State and Territory nominating authorities?
The nominating authorities for places on EMA Institute courses which have been allocated to the States and Territories are the Directors of the relevant emergency management organisations. The nominating authorities for each State or Territory are listed below.
When should I nominate for a training program?
Applications should be submitted to the nominating authority in the State or Territory of the applicant, no later than 10 weeks before the activity is scheduled to commence.
How much does it cost to go to EMA Institute?
The cost of air travel, ground transport between EMA Institute and Melbourne airport, accommodation and meals is normally borne by the Commonwealth. Participants are responsible for arranging, and paying for, travel between their homes and their home airports.
How do I arrange transport to EMA Institute?
EMA will make appropriate air travel arrangements to and from Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine), through its agent QANTAS for all participants except those from Victoria. Course participants will be advised, two weeks prior to the activity, of the details of their air travel bookings. This will include feeder air service bookings from each participant's home airport (the airport at which participants first board an aircraft for travel to EMA).
Home airport is defined as the nearest airport serviced daily by QANTAS or one of their subsidiaries. Participants are responsible for arranging, and paying for, travel between their homes and their home airports. For return travel, bookings are normally made on the first available flight departing Melbourne Airport after participants disperse from an EMA activity.
