Advanced Diploma of Public Safety

Nominations for 2008 intake of the Advanced Diploma are now closed. Nominations for the 2009 intake will be advertised on this page next year. The following material is for information only.

This program is designed for people with a new or established role in emergency management who wish to gain a formal competency based qualification through coursework and workplace practice.  The key elements of the program are the development of networks, the sharing of ideas and resources and mutual support between states and territories.  Preference will be given to applicants who have no (or few) formally recognised competencies in emergency management.

Successful applicants must be working in a role relevant to their state’s or territory’s emergency management arrangements.  If employment changes during the two year program, the nominating authority and EMA must be notified. A career change may necessitate paying full fees for the remainder of the course or forfeiture of the place.

Using a themed approach, the program will be conducted over 2 years and will require off campus preparatory work, a residential component at the EMA Institute at Mount Macedon and off campus project work.

Applicants for the Advanced Diploma should complete a nomination form and forward it to the relevant State nominating authority.
