At 8 pm on Friday 22 November, a severe storm impacted the town of Killarney in southern Queensland. The roof of the local hospital was blown off, the town's two picture theatres, RSL and CWA halls, and churches all suffered damage of some kind. Many of the houses were damaged or destroyed, and vehicles were moved by the force of the wind. The Queensland Government declared it a natural disaster on Monday 25 November, and established a fund to assist in rebuilding the town.
