Has there been a heatwave in your town?
Research through your local library, newspapers and the internet to see if your town has been affected by a heatwave.
Keeping your cool
Investigate how temperature is affected by the colour and types of clothing people wear.
Get 4 similar sized glass jars and half-fill them up with water. Wrap each jar in different material. Try using cotton, leather or a synthetic material and leave them outside in the sun for an hour.
Is there a difference in the temperature of each jar when you put a thermometer in the water?
What happens to the temperature in each of the jars when you use different coloured material? Do the lightest colours make the water warmer or cooler?
