Committees and Councils
Emergency Management Australia (EMA) works with stakeholders to identify current and future issues of national importance and part of this process is involvement in committees and councils.
EMA provides the secretariat for both the Australian Emergency Management Committee (AEMC) and the Ministerial Council for Police and Emergency Management (MCPEM), supporting the governance of high-level emergency management in Australia. In undertaking this role, EMA provides strategic policy advice to the Attorney-General and other Ministers responsible for emergency management, develops strategic policy relating to pertinent emergency management issues, and facilitates the implementation of policy initiatives.
EMA also provides secretariat support for the Remote Indigenous Communities Advisory Committee (RICAC), a sub-committee of AEMC, which comprises membership from emergency management organisations and Indigenous groups from New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.
