Preparing for Emergencies
The process of preparing for an emergency is called ‘preparedness’.
Preparedness is a variety of measures designed to ensure that, should an emergency occur, communities, resources and services are capable of coping with the effects. These measures include different resources, services, and actions.
Aspects of preparedness
Some aspects of preparedness are
- Plans and Arrangements that are put in place before an emergency occurs.
- Assessing Risk – determining how likely an emergency event is to occur, as well as how severe it could be.
- Business Continuity – planning for the continued availability of essential business services.
- Disaster Mitigation – mitigating the potential effects of an emergency.
